Tips for Before, Day of, and After the Career Fair

Before the Career Fair:

  • Register for the career fair

    • When you create an account on Jobs Connected, upload your resume to your profile.

    • Once you have created an account, you'll be able to see the Colorado Business School Career Fair. Register for the fair so you can see all of the attending companies and details on what they are hiring for at the fair.

    • Filter for and research attending companies on the Jobs Connected web app. Use the filters to find the companies hiring for what aligns with your career interests and ask them questions prior to the event.

    • Share your resume with employers through their Company Pages on the Jobs Connected web app. It's easy to upload a resume once you have it on your profile!

  • Prepare a few talking points for when you meet with employers at the fair

    • Talking points might include an overview of your background, studies, and career interests or goals.

    • Create questions for the employers you’ll be meeting.

Day of the Career Fair

  • Professional business attire is required. Dress your personal best! Confident attire leads to confident interactions.

  • IMPORTANT for the day of the fair: Bring plenty of copies of your resume to hand to employers. There is no onsite copier.

  • The employers at the fair want to meet you! Introduce yourself to them and learn what they have to offer. They are also there to help you.

  • While talking to employers, ask if and how they’d like to be followed up with or contacted in the future. Time will move quickly during the fair, so following up with employers will be important!

  • Get your headshot taken. A headshot booth will be at the fair. It’s FREE!

  • Give yourself grace. Career fairs can feel intimidating, but the employers/recruiters are really great! They are there to help you too. You are going to do a great job!

After the Career Fair

  • Apply to relevant jobs and internships.

  • If you’d like to follow up with employers, some options to consider are:

    • Send a ‘thank you’ or follow-up email (ideally within 24 hours). You may want to reiterate your interest in their company and mention details of your conversation with them.

    • Use LinkedIn to identify recruiters you spoke with and send them a personalized invitation to connect.
